It’s time to say hello to September and all that it offers, especially when it comes to the fashion world. Fashion Week begins mapping out the trends that will inspire our closets in the seasons to come. Until then, we have finally reached the month at which we can start rolling out the start of our fall wardrobes, keeping in mind that warmer weather is still on the horizon (at least until next month). I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to break out my favorite pair of ankle booties and the knits. Until then I’m focusing on adding pieces that are transitional into the mixture sweaters that are light, including skirts, and you guessed it.

2. Put in your step.
Nothing beats a classic combination quite like some worn in jeans and leather mules. Carly of The College Prepster is ready for fall in her leather mule slides and coordinating clutch. This combination could be worn by me .
3. Maxi-ed out.
Maxi skirts are some of the most effective transitional pieces. Pair them with a summer blouse like Venita Aspen did above, or layer a light sweater over the top. This pretty printed number is definitely a conversation starter.

10. Back to school (or work) basics.
Nothing has us feeling more nostalgic for the days of going back to school than a comfortable preppy sweatshirt, our favorite worn-in jeans, and a pair of brand new ballet flats. Jen of Skirt the Rules has us feeling like school is back in session this month in her New York sweatshirt, distressed denim and leopard apartments. This is the perfect September uniform, if you ask us!

If you don’t have a denim dress in your closet however, I encourage you to get on it. Jamie of Work Your Closet demonstrates precisely how cute and comfy these dresses are. Whether you’re heading into the farmer’s market or out to brunch, let a denim shirt dress like this one be your go-to.
Love on some leather.
It sure feels like fall is coming in hot, but the weather may not be cooling down as quickly as we would all like it to. Having said that, our tip is to style fall fabrics, like leather and suede, with lightweight pieces like your white t-shirt. We love how Olivia of LivvyLand pairs a short leather mini skirt with black strappy sandals and a boxy cotton t-shirt for its ultimate transitional look.
