The wine comes from vines planted in the Maucoil and Bois Lauzon lieux-dits. The wine is a blend of 70% old vine Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Counoise 5% Cinsault 5% Mourvedre and the remainder of the grapes are a field mix. The grapes are 100% destemmed. Vinification takes place in cement vats. This is just a Grenache based wine which if you are not familiar with, you should be.
Loads with a edge. On the palate, the blast of fruits that are sweet keep on going with its hot, cherry, black raspberry and the kirsch liqueur side of the style range. It isn’t pricey and it is ready to drink. Like I said, what’s not to like? 94 Pts
Starting with the 2010 classic, Jean-Paul Daumen, the owner and winemaking in Vieille Julienne shook things up. With the same grape sources, the changed each of their wines, including some new wines, and no longer producing others. Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Chateauneuf du Pape Les Trois Sources made its debut with the 2010 classic.
But I am going to attempt post about the week’s wines and to get back into that feeling of rhythm. I know there are often so I don’t to include them. However, this wine of the week is ideal. It’s a good representation of what is going on in the Southern Rhone Valley with Domaine de la Vieille Julienne.
I flavor enough wine for a wine of the week report, however there are times when I skip sharing. It is not all that hard to sit in front of a computer keyboard for a bit and let you know, what I’ve been tasting. However, I freely admit, there are times with I just wish to taste the wine. From time to time, I could get in one of those, I cannot write another wine tasting note up.

I was inspired to get back into the groove of wine of the week reports after completing my report on 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape. Based on tasting the 150 of the classic, there is going to be a lot to enjoy for loves of Chateauneuf du Pape.
