Everyone gathered in the morning in the breakfast area, and we had to talk about!
Late in the afternoon we went for a stroll down to the dock, which is now “our spot” because it played such a sweet part of our wedding day.
After our second night, we’re ready to head back home. I felt like we were bringing a baby home from the hospital and carried the topper on my lap to our cake! Haha.
We spent a couple of hours talking about how perfect the marriage was, snoozing, and reading our books.
This was the place where I got ready and waited to walk out to the ceremony lawn and where we stayed for 2 nights. It was so lovely!
Lol! (Ours had all got eaten.)
Beet salad and shrimp and grits —
The Clifton offers complimentary tea and it was the perfect afternoon snack to tide us to dinner.
We stopped into the bar to have some drinks to sip on the porch.
When we woke up, we were SO GLAD we had nothing planned since all we wanted to do was relax! If I have any advice for brides-to-be, it is to plan to do absolutely nothing the day after and postpone your honeymoon a couple weeks. That makes the days leading up to the wedding much less stressful and gives you time to re-pack and unpack.
The end.
A mini two candies and cheese and ham sammie!
We took the short hike around to the other side of the lake. It was simply beautiful on the most ideal autumn day!
Thomas and I spent hours debating what to do after the wedding. We’re currently taking an official honeymoon to the Mexican Riviera in two weeks, and so we didn’t wish to take over a day off of work post-wedding. But we wanted to do something special so that we weren’t only going home, unpacking, and going to the grocery store the next morning. We discussed going a mountain resort, hiking, doing a spa day, or spending the day in Richmond. Ultimately we voted just to stay put at the Clifton Inn for one more night so we would not need to pack up and leave straight away.
After the wedding was over and we had our sparkler exit, we could sneak back over to Grammie and Pea’s room and tuck Mazen into bed. He was happy and surprised to see us! This photo melts my heart <3
The hot tub was perfect, although the pool was freezing!

So that we can enjoy dinner on the 16, we had yet another gorgeous sunny day. It was surreal to think that so lots of our loved ones had been there too!
We said our farewells one by one, and then it was us.
For dinner we had olives and burrata —
